Ergane, Legal Consulting

One weaver. The work of a team.

Legal efficiencies consulting for founders, CXOs, and owners. You buy legal services; Ergane makes sure you get what you pay for: how the work flows, what it should cost, and the technology under both. It is run by a practicing lawyer who automated his own practice, so the advice comes from an operator, not a slide deck. His documented median draft turnaround fell from about 12 hours to 2.6, nearly 5x. Your legal spend has a number too.

Buy vs. Build Analysis

A fixed-scope, two to three week diagnostic: what your team actually needs, what the market sells, what you could build instead, and the honest cost of each path.

Vendor Selection

Requirements, market scan, weighted scoring, demos, and a recommendation memo. Independent advice; any vendor interest is disclosed up front.

Build Services and Software Development

When the analysis says build, we build it. Intake flows, document automation, review workflows, and the glue between your existing tools, through to custom applications and integrations when nothing on the market fits (or you're just tired of paying for another subscription). Scoped and priced before a line of code is written.

Configuration and Implementation

Tools you already bought, set up the way your team actually works. Milestone-based and fixed fee, set in writing before kickoff.

Fine-Tuning and Optimization

Ongoing tuning of the stack you run: prompts, templates, integrations, and metrics, kept sharp on a monthly retainer.

Automation Services

Zapier, Make, and AI workflow automation designed, configured, and documented, with managed support if you want it kept running.

Outside Counsel Assessment

Do you actually need a BigLaw firm for your work? Are the rates, staffing, and terms competitive? A spend and panel review, matter tiering, billing guidelines, and support when it is time to renegotiate.

Training and Enablement

The stack only pays off if the team uses it. Hands-on sessions in your own workflows and documents: prompting that holds up under review, where the tools earn their keep, and where they cannot be trusted. Half-day, full-day, or a run of sessions.

About

Operator, not outside counsel

Ergane is run by Damian Guzman, a corporate-commercial lawyer in Oakland, California who runs his own small, heavily automated practice. The workflows we recommend are workflows he has built and runs daily: automated intake, document assembly, AI-assisted review, and the operational metrics behind them. He also knows what outside counsel work actually costs to produce, because he produces it. He is CIPP/US, CIPM, and PCIP certified, so privacy and payments-security review happens in-house, and at his law practice he ran a fully financed M&A acquisition solo, letter of intent to closing, on the AI toolkit he tuned himself. The name comes from Athena Ergane, goddess of craft and industry, the one the weavers and builders of Athens actually prayed to: wisdom with its hands on the loom. That is the posture here, advice with its hands on your workflows.
